Guitarist and singer/songwriter Steve Cary grew up in Corvallis, Oregon, where he learned to sing from choral music masters such as Joyce Eilers and Jester Hairston, and singing every kind of music he could in choirs, bands, and as a soloist. He has performed classiscal, swing, jazz, folk, rock, ans spirituals throughout the west coast. Fluent in Spanish, he writes in both English and Spanish - some songs in both.
Saxophonist, percussionist, and singer Doug Wagner, a Richland native, returned to his home town in 2001 following 30 years of playing with popular blues, rock and funk bands from Seattle. He has played with such great rock artists as Chuck Berry, The Coasters, The Shirrels, Freddie Cannon, and Buddy Miles.
Bass guitarist and singer Fran "Cuco" Martinez was born in Chicago, and grew up in Havana, Cuba, learning traditional Afro-Cuban music and various percussion instruments, string bass, and bass guitar. He returned to the U. S. in 1973 and began playing with a variety of popular Latin groups. In 1975, he was hired to play congas with the Rolling Stones for their Los Angeles concert. He continues to play percussion, touring with Los Angeles-based Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca.
Guitarist and singer Ira Perkins also plays bass guitar, mandolin, and banjo, as well as keyboards, trumpet and French horn. An Omaha native, he has studied jazz, classical, and other styles of music, and toured the midwest with a popular rock band in the 60's and 70's.
Drummer and percussionist "Bongo" Bob Williams rounds out the band. A 20 year transplant from the Seattle area, he has performed rock, country, heavy metal, jazz, funk, Latin, and Middle Eastern music throughout the northwest. His eclectic style sets the pace for the unique fusion of Romagossa Blú.
